INSTITUTE'S SETUP The Director of the Institute is the overall authority to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the day to day administration and academic activities. In academic administration, all disciplines paid its designated department heads to carry out academic curriculum while in administration; there are two officers, viz, Academic Officer, Finance and Account Officer looking after the administrative and establishment and account section Institute Administrative and Academic Set up is divided into two wings i.e. Administration & Establishment and Academic. a) Administration & Establishment In administrative & Establishment set up, there are two sections viz. Establishment and Account. In Establishment Section there is an Administrative Officer who is responsible to ensure smooth running of day to day functions of the administration and establishment while Account Section is headed by Finance & Accounts Officer responsible to prepare Five Year Plan and Annual Plan of the Institute covering the Academic Wing. The Officer is also responsible to maintain the financial discipline of the budgetary allocation of the Institute. Both the Administrative & Accounts Officers are responsible to offer free and frank advise from time to time to the Director of the Institute who is overall in-charge of the Institute for management and administration. At the initial stage of the institute set up, very limited post were created by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, and no technical council norms in regards to staffing pattern of Academic Wing was followed. Every year, different technical council carried out the inspection of the institute’s different courses and noted with observation that the institute should follow the staffing pattern prescribed by the different councils to run their respective courses. As the required post could not be created immediately, the institute has entertained some qualified faculty members to manage the class on contract basis with lumpsum remuneration. The inspect team recently conducted the annual inspection of Pharmacy Deptt. has addressed the need for creation of regular post. The proposal for creation of new posts as per requirement of different technical council norms has been forwarded to the Ministry for consideration. On taking over of administration and management by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt.of India, New Delhi as per decision , existing M.O.A. (Constitution), Rules and Regulations and By-Laws of the Institute have been amended with the approval of the Ministry. Notification constituting the Board of Governors and the Executive Council of the Institute has been issued. However, reconstitution of various committees and sub-committees is yet to be notified as approval from the Ministry is till awaited. b) Academic Wing There are three Degree level Courses viz. B.Sc (Nursing), B.Pharm and B.Sc (MLT) and two Diploma Courses i.e. combined course of ECG & X-Ray –abbreviated form “Radio Imaging & Cardio-Instrumentation Technology (RICIT)” and Ophthalmic Technology where training of students admitted from different beneficiary states of North Eastern Region are imparted. The lone certificate course i.e Medical Laboratory Technology (Certificate Course) temporarily suspended due to inadequate strength of faculty members as two diploma course viz D.Pharm & MLT (D) offered by the Institute earlier has since been upgraded to degree level courses w.e.f 2004 Academic session. For each course there is a Head of Department and under his/her guidance subordinate faculty members and other supported teaching and non-teaching staff are working. The head of department is accountable to ensure students training and conduct of annual and final examinations in consultation with Mizoram University and Mizoram State Council for Technical Education (MSCTE). In addition there are three sections, viz. Training & Placement, Computer and Library of the Institute which are also attached to Academic Wing. The Director of the Institute is also the overall in-charge of the Academic Wing.
